Description

The gardens were founded in 1673 by the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries in order to provide a space and the resources to study medicinal qualities of plants. In 1983 the gardens became a registered charity and were opened up to the public for the first time and are packed full of 100’s of different species of plants. Today, the gardens remain as one of the oldest and most important centres for botany and plant exchange in the world. The garden is a sizeable green space lined with trees and scattered with a broad variety of plantlife.
